Principal Dentist Tim Phillips works as the Dental Collaborative Lead for the Cardiff West Cluster. In conjuction with the Cluster, we have developed some infographics to raise awareness of the 2-way link between Periodontitis (Gum Disease) and Diabetes.

There are 4 posters available below, please download the one relevant to you:

• A patient within a Dental Practice setting, diagnosed with periodontitis (gum disease) and at risk of undiagnosed diabetes.

• A patient within a GP Practice setting, diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes, and a trisk of unstable periodontitis.

• A GP or Medical Professional with advice for the diabetic patient, questions to ask about their dental attendance history, and signpost a possible undiagnosed periodontitis patient to a dental practice. 

• A Dentist or Dental Care Professional with advice on periodontitis / diabetes link, performing a basic diabetes risk assessment for your periodontitis patients, and signposting them to their GP for screening of undiagnosed diabetes.
